Hi All,

After a very light travel schedule this past year, I’m happy to report that I’m heading to Asia for two months. I’ll be visiting Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea. While I may take some time off during the trip, I typically work the entire time I’m away. Something about the friction of dealing with different people, foods, customs, and languages tends to spark creativity in me. I wrote DKI’s white paper refuting Nassim Taleb’s claims on Bitcoin from Costa Rica. We did some of our best video webinars while I was in Peru and in Boracay (a small island in the Philippines). I wrote multiple eBooks from Thailand, and last year, did the work behind our profitable investment in Shockwave Medical ($SWAV) as I flew from one Philippine island to another.

Right now, there are two interesting stock ideas on deck where I like the thesis a lot, and need to do more research to figure out if they’re worth committing capital. All of that work can be done from anywhere and I’m excited to figure out the details on these potential investments. One is in medical services and the other is in technology.

I’ve tracked this closely, and have found that I am more productive and do more creative work when out of my home office comfort zone…so I’ll be on a plane Sunday morning.

Because this is a light news week and because I’m traveling during the day(s) when Robb and I would normally film the 5 Things, there will be no issue of the 5 Things this week. I’m already working with star intern, Alex, and new (soon to be star) intern, Josh, on next week’s issue.
