Foreign Policy, Strategic, and Political Advisor

John Lenczowski is Founder, President Emeritus, and Chancellor of The Institute of World Politics, an independent graduate school of national security and international affairs in Washington, D.C.

From 1981 to 1983 Dr. Lenczowski served in the State Department in the Bureau of European Affairs and as Special Advisor to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs, Lawrence Eagleburger. From 1983 to 1987 he was Director of European and Soviet Affairs at the National Security Council. In that capacity, he served as principal Soviet affairs adviser to President Reagan.

Established in 1990, IWP is dedicated to developing leaders with a sound understanding of international realities and the ethical conduct of statecraft, based on knowledge and appreciation of American founding principles and the Western moral tradition. Offering five Master’s degrees, a professional doctorate, and 17 certificate programs, IWP is the only academic institution dedicated to teaching all the arts of statecraft, including: military strategy, the art of diplomacy, public diplomacy, strategic influence, political warfare; intelligence, counterintelligence, economic strategy, and moral leadership, and how these arts are integrated into national strategy.

Dr. Lenczowski has been associated with several academic and research institutions in the Washington area, including Georgetown University, the University of Maryland, the American Enterprise Institute, the Ethics and Public Policy Center, the Council for Inter-American Security, and the International Freedom Foundation. He also served on the staff of Rep. James Courter in the House of Representatives.

Dr. Lenczowski attended the Thacher School, earned his B.A. at the University of California, Berkeley, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

He is the author of: Full-Spectrum Diplomacy and Grand Strategy (2011), Cultural Diplomacy: A Multi-faceted Strategic Asset of Soviet Power (1991), The Sources of Soviet Perestroika (1990), and Soviet Perceptions of U.S. Foreign Policy (1982), and numerous other writings, addresses, and Congressional testimony on U.S. foreign policy, public diplomacy, information policy, strategic influence, political warfare, Soviet/Russian affairs, comparative ideologies, intelligence, strategic deception, counterintelligence, and integrated strategy

Chris Bell

Chris Bell is a Managing Director and the National Sales Manager of Horizon Kinetics. He joined the Firm in 2001 and currently serves as National Sales Manager, where he is responsible for a national wholesaling team that primarily focuses on the distribution to advisors of the Kinetics Mutual Funds, SMAs and Private Funds.

Chris is the FINOP and a Principal of KBD Securities, an affiliate of Horizon Kinetics, LLC. Prior to joining the Firm, he was employed by Howard Investment Management as a Director, overseeing institutional and retail sales.

From 1998 through 2001, Chris served as an investment advisor with Du Pasquier & Co, Inc., in Paris, France. From 1997 through 1998, he was President of USEXPAT Consulting, a French investment adviser where he had discretionary management responsibility. Chris also held advisor positions with Janney Montgomery Scott and First Albany Corporation. He received a BA from Old Dominion University in 1984.

He also serves as Board President of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra in Norwalk, CT, and is a Certified Financial Planner.
